Alexander Copp, Esq.
Alexander Copp is a seasoned attorney with substantial experience representing clients in both state and federal courts. His practice encompasses a broad array of civil matters, including municipal law, land use, landlord-tenant disputes, defamation, employment discrimination, real property litigation, and business disputes. In addition to his trial work, Alex is highly regarded for his appellate experience. He has successfully argued numerous cases before the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Connecticut Supreme Court.
Over the course of his career, Alex has been the recipient of multiple professional honors and distinctions, reflecting his commitment to legal excellence and client service. In 2020, Alex was recognized as a “New Leader in the Law” by the Connecticut Law Tribune. In 2022, Alex was named to the Fairfield County Business Journal’s “40 Under Forty” list, and Benchmark Litigation’s 2022 “40 & Under Hot List,” which includes lawyers who are consistently referenced by peers and clients for selection. He was also named by Best Lawyers in America, “Ones to Watch” for land use and zoning law (2021-2024), commercial litigation (2022-2024), litigation in labor and employment (2022-2024), appellate practice (2023-2024), and municipal law (2024).
Alex received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he was an associate editor for the Health Law Journal. His article on insurance surcharges was published in the Quinnipiac Health Law Journal (“The Ethics and Efficacy of a ‘Fat Tax’ in the Form of an Insurance Surcharge on Obese State Employees,” 15 Quinnipiac Health L.J. 1, 2012). His academic honors include Merit Scholarship, Academic Excellence Award, Outstanding Legal Scholarship, Excellence in Clinical Work. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, in psychology from University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida.
Outside of his legal practice, Alex enjoys tennis, chess, and poker, and enjoys playing music and competitive curling. He also loves to travel, while still enjoying Connecticut and all it has to offer, where he lives with his spouse and their children.
