Prerna Rao, Esq.
With years of experience in the courtroom, negotiations, compliance and other matters, Prerna has the skill and knowledge needed to handle her clients’ legal matters, no matter how sensitive or challenging.
Prerna helps individuals and small and medium-sized businesses with litigation, business and real estate transactions, contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, and election-related issues, as well as select personal injury and medical malpractice matters. Prior to founding Omnia Law, she worked for a high volume civil litigation practice where she obtained millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for her clients.
Prerna also serves as an adjunct professor at Quinnipiac University School of Law, helping teach Foundations of Practice and Professional Development, for the current academic year. She was also recently recognized by her law school’s Alumni Association for her work in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
In 2021, Prerna was recognized by Senator Richard Blumenthal for her work in helping victims of domestic violence.
In 2019, Prerna was named a New Leader in the Law by the Connecticut Law Tribune. She was also recognized by Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” in 2021 and 2023, and Best Lawyers “Women in the Law” & “Ones to Watch” in 2022, 2023, and 2024, for her work in commercial litigation and personal injury.
From 2017 to 2023, Prerna was selected for the Super Lawyers Rising Star award as a top rated general litigation attorney. Additionally, she was also selected among America's Top 100 Bet-the-Company Litigators® for Connecticut from 2019 to current, and America's Top 100 High Stakes Litigators® from 2020 to current.
Prerna is licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut and the US District Court, District of Connecticut. She was also elected to and serves on the Zoning Board of Appeals for her town, currently serving her third elected term.
Prerna received her J.D., cum laude, from Quinnipiac University School of Law in Hamden, CT, where she was an Associate Editor for the Probate Law Journal. Her article on international taxation was published in the Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal ("What Would Humphrey Bogart Do? An Overview of Federal Taxes as they Apply to the International Community of U.S. Nationals," 25 Quinnipiac Prob. L.J. 298), and cited by various other academic journals/law reviews discussing tax-related issues.
Academic honors awarded to her include: Outstanding Legal Scholarship, Excellence in Clinical Work, and Service to the Law School. She received a B.A., cum laude, in political science from George Washington University, in Washington, D.C.
Prerna has spent time and volunteered in India, China, and Nicaragua, among other places. While she enjoys traveling, she also loves Connecticut and all it has to offer, where she lives with her spouse and their children.
